Achy, Stiff and Painful Joints? You can thank Mother Nature for your discomfort! This winter the Delaware Valley has seen some peculiar weather. Bitter chills some days and mild temperatures on others are starting to have an effect on our joints!

Arthritis pain can be onset from every 10 degree drop in barometric pressure, according to a 2007 study by Tufts University in Boston. Unfortunately, these 10 degree drops are happening often in our area and patients are feeling the pain. For relief, here are a few tips from our physical therapists on your winter arthritis:

Stretch Daily
Ease joint pain by doing some light stretches. Focus on the areas in which your joints tend to ache.

Keep Moving
Cold winter months make it hard to get the amount of exercise recommended. Find ways to get more steps in by taking the stairs, trying a dance class, or meeting a friend to walk around the mall.
